The Skagway wrestling team came back from a year break with a startling six wrestlers. Even though five out of six of these wrestlers are rookies, they are coming along strong and learning the techniques from Coach Ticarro. The team has been to two tournaments since the season began, and has gained much experience from just these two meets. With an 8th grader, three sophomores, a junior, and a senior the Panthers are looking good for this year and next year!
Wrestling season is sadly over, but there's always next year! The team traveled down to Sitka for regions and faced two days of preparation on the ferry. The Skagway Panthers all wrestled their hardest and even though Germishays and Wassman didn't place they gained a large amount of experience. Skagway's most experienced wrestler, Moore, placed 5th at regions. The men returned home with sportsmanship awards, a broken nose, and a black eye.
