2010 DDF team

DDF team traveled to Anchorage last weekend for the state tournament. They placed 5th in both expository speaking and duet acting.

DDF members did great in the Juneau tournament on February 5th-6th. They placed 3rd for expository speaking, a 6-8 min informative speech, and 4th for oration which is an 8-10 min speech that contradicts the status quo. DDF member placed 1st for oration in the Catholic Forensics League which gives her a seat in Omaha, Nebraska National tournament. Up coming event, the state tournament, which they will be compeating in on March 4th-5th. In the last two years DDF members have gone to state.

DDF had their first DDF meet in Juneau on November 13-14. This year there is a new coach for the DDF members her name is Tegan Baldwin who was hired Nov. 10 The DDF members did pretty well for only having about two weeks to prepare for this Sitka tournament and “two placed so it was great experience” said Tegan Baldwin.
During the beginning of the year DDF was going to be cut but after the school board voted and said that it should stay they left to sitka. “It is one of the single most important activities to have in High School,” she said. “It has all of the elements of social networking from sports, but it also involves your mind: learning how to speak, learning how to write, learning how to come up with ideas through research." The team had a second place finish in Extemporaneous Commentary and finished third in Oration.
