Mr. Les McCormick is the Interim Superintendent for the district. He was raised and attended school in Ketchikan and has had a plethora of positions in school districts in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Montana where he was a superintendent for a rural K-12 school district. He has administrative experience in Montana, Alaska, Oregon and Idaho. He also taught 7th-12th grade history and science in Nevada and Idaho. He was the Teacher of the Year Award- 1997- for Central Idaho. Les enjoys traveling, sports and seeking new and interesting adventures.

Debbie Knorr

Administrative Assistant to the School Board and Superintendent

Debbie began working for the school in January 1985 as a temp and then moved into a part-time secretarial position. Since November 1991, she has been working full time in the school office. Her job title is now the Administrative Assistant to the School Board and Superintendent. She attended college in Riverside, California. Debbie works in the school’s main office and her duties range from answering the phone and greeting visitors to taking notes and doing the minutes for the School Board and numerous things in between. Her job rarely gets boring! Educating students is the function of the school, so she approaches her job from that aspect. When students come to the office, she helps them right away so they can go back to class as soon as possible. The same holds true for teachers.

Kathy has been the Director of Business Services at the Skagway School District for 5 years. She has been employed in the business field for 41 years with 17 years in government fund accounting. She has been a Nationally Certified EMT, private pilot and currently possesses a commercial driver’s license as well as being first aid/CPR certified. She owns and manages her own local seasonal tour company. In her spare time she enjoys walking, reading, working with computers and bowling.
