2013-2014
Vision
In partnership
with educators, family and community; Skagway School District will provide rich
and rigorous academics that ensure all students will succeed in their education
and work.
Mission
Skagway School
District will:

professional and curriculum development provide a rich and rigorous education
for every student.

proactive and effective communication with parents, community and educators.

Provide
the tools for each student to succeed to the best of his/her ability.
Goal One:
The Skagway School District will promote effective communication and
partnerships with parents, local businesses, government and other agencies.
Specifically
Utilizing A Multi Pronged Plan Including-

2.
Skagway
School District will sponsor:
a.
School
board member sponsored early childhood literacy activity 2 times a year.
i. Measured by attendance sheet from the
event.
ii. Time of completion of schedule August 30,
2013, for fall event and spring event.
b.
Annual
community barbeque with school orientation for new families.
i. Measured by attendance sheet from the
event.
ii. Time of completion during pre-school
in-service.
3.
The
Skagway School Board will establish a subcommittee to focus on communications
with public entities.
a.
The
Skagway School Board will send a representative to one Skagway Assembly meeting
per month to update the Assembly on school activities and answer any questions
they may have.

report of previous Assembly meeting.

b.
The
Skagway School Board will appoint a subcommittee to develop and maintain
relationships with local organizations and businesses.

Goal Two:
To actively recruit, retain, and develop highly competent, caring, and
student focused staff by putting into practice state of the art technology that
provides students and staff with full working and learning capability.

a highly trained and qualified teacher experienced in Vocational Technology and
Computer Technology, Foreign Language or Social Studies.

Goal
Three: The Skagway School District will set and meet
high expectations for academic achievement, teaching standards, administration
accomplishments, and board performance.

Skagway School District will develop and adopt a new evaluation tool for the
Superintendent position that contains measurable objectives, and input from the
staff and community.

performance and promote professional growth.
